Turkey’s former military chief has been convicted of trying to overthrow the government and sentenced to life in prison.

TURKEY’S prime minister yesterday vowed to put everyone who conspired against the country’s democracy on trial as more military officers were arrested.

Turkey has suspended military relations with France in a dispute over whether the mass killings of Armenians in the last century amounted to genocide, the land forces commander said.
