The Government has ignored warnings from the most senior local government officials that the method used to compile the electoral register was “out of date and in need of urgent replacement”.

The environment minister has confirmed that the local government official who presided over Sligo County Council’s Lissadell court saga has walked off with a pension lump sum payment of over €250,000.

ALMOST 1,000 people own between 12 and 21 non-primary properties according to the agency which, by yesterday’s deadline, had netted almost €47 million through the €200 property tax on second homes.
