The suspected leader of an extremist Hutu militia was in custody today after being arrested in eastern Congo following years on the run.

A former Rwandan government minister who was indicted on charges of involvement in the 1994 genocide was found dead floating in a Brussels canal, officials said today.

FOUR former Rwandan ministers went on trial yesterday charged with playing key roles in the 1994 genocide, including buying weapons and inciting the slaughter of about 800,000 people, a court spokesman said.
