Kofi Annan won election to a second term at the helm of the United Nations today with support from every corner of the globe, a unanimous endorsement of his sensitive and effective leadership.

Cheers went up in the corridors of United Nations headquarters after a majority of countries voted to retain Aids conference credentials for the San Franscisco-based International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.
