A garda liaison officer who was arrested over the weekend in connection with an historic child sexual abuse complaint has been found dead.

Gsoc is investigating allegations that a senior garda opened a criminal investigation into a personal injury claim because he was friendly with the employer against whom the claim was made.

A series of garda blunders culminated in a man murdering his own mother at a time when he should have been behind bars, according to a damning report from the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc).
