Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is confident of beating off any bids for control of the club.

The Football League disciplinary panel have recommended Chesterfield should be deducted nine points and £20,000 following their three-day inquiry into illegal payments.

The 35-year-old was arrested at an address in Leicestershire in connection with an ongoing investigation into the club, but has since been freed on bail.
