European Union (EU) lawmakers have launched action against Poland over concerns the government has compromised the independence of the judiciary and risks breaching fundamental values.

TALKS within the European Union have broken down over how to deal with food from cloned animals, sending EU proposals on the sale of new types of foods back to the drawing board after three years of debate.

MEAT and milk from cloned animals can continue to be sold and does not need to be labelled after member states and the European Parliament failed to agree new controls.
