An Army investigation into the abuse of inmates at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison will blame two dozen people, a senior defence official said in Washington.

Interrogators at Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib prison viewed sleep deprivation, stripping inmates naked and threatening them with dogs as normal ways of dealing with ”the enemy”, a soldier attached to military intelligence there said.

The Pentagon is pursuing five separate investigations into claims that Iraqi prisoners were abused.
