Former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto’s party announced today that it would contest the country’s presidential election – but only if President General Pervez Musharraf is barred from running.

Pakistan’s exiled former premier, Benazir Bhutto, said Gen Pervez Musharraf had agreed to step down as army chief in a move she believed would happen before the next presidential election.

A blast in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi occurred after a suicide bomber rammed a pick-up truck into a police vehicle.
