Seven children are to sue European governments in a landmark lawsuit over the impact that climate change is having on their lives.

The Government’s refusal to intervene in the case of an Irish-owned university in the Middle East which has been at the centre of human rights abuses is to be aired before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva today.

The Irish Medical Council’s controversial decision to give accreditation to an Irish-owned university in the Middle East at the centre of human rights concerns caused significant division within the council, documents obtained under Freedom of Information show.

The Medical Council will be asked to appear before the Oireachtas education committee to explain how it plans to accredit the Bahrain medical facility of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in light of human rights violations.
