A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, with the final three years suspended, after he left an acquaintance with life threatening injuries after stabbing him with a large kitchen knife.

A woman with Hepatitis C who bit a garda after breaching a barring order from her mother's home has been given a two-year sentence by Judge Desmond Hogan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.
