A High Court judge has overturned the Information Commissioner’s decision requiring University College Cork to disclose to RTÉ certain information about a €100m loan agreement between the college and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

A settlement could be reached next week of the marathon case by Sean Quinn’s five adult children challenging the validity of securities provided by them for hundreds of millions of euro in loans advanced by Anglo Irish Bank to Quinn companies.

A High Court judge will rule next week whether Sean Quinn’s children can pursue a key claim their father unduly influenced them to sign securities for loans of hundreds of millions by Anglo Irish Bank to Quinn group companies.
