A detective garda, who showed "incredible bravery" after he had a loaded gun pointed at him during a Crumlin bank robbery eight-and-a-half years ago, has been awarded almost €70,000 damages in the High Court.

A 22-year-old Dublin man who pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court to possession of explosives in his north Dublin home last September was remanded to a District Court to allow the court to consider a suspended sentence handed down for another offence.

A young Dublin man has been sentenced to a total of eight years for a number of offences including the stabbing of his aunt’s partner, threatening a neighbour and assaulting a former school pal with a broken bottle.
