A Limerick criminal who claims he is addicted to fast cars, sped through heavy city centre traffic in a stolen BMW pursued by armed gardaí, crashing into two patrol cars and a bus before knocking down a garda, a court heard.

Gardaí have brought two men before a special court sitting in Limerick charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man.

A garda has told the Roy Collins murder trial that he pointed a gun at one of the accused men when he found him hiding under insulation in an attic after the murder.
