A New York man who was fired by IBM for visiting an adult chat room at work is suing the company for $5m (€3.8m), claiming he is an internet addict who deserves treatment and sympathy.

IBM said today it will be cutting jobs in the UK, Germany, Italy and France as part of a restructuring that will slash between 10,000 and 13,000 positions, mostly in Europe.
