The number of migrants and refugees that entered Europe by sea in 2019 marks the sixth year in a row that figures were at least 100,000.

A new report reveals nearly 1,600 children – an average of almost one every day – were reported dead or missing between 2014 and 2018, though many more go unrecorded.

More than 3,400 migrants died or were recorded as missing as they tried to cross borders around the globe in the first five months of the year — more than 80% of them trying to reach Europe by sea, said the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
