In one of the first cases of its kind in Limerick, a notorious rapist who attacked a teenage French student the day before she went home was yesterday given a suspended jail sentence for failing to notify gardaí that he had moved address in the city.

CompiledJanuary 2005: Paul Buckley, aged 32, of Baker’s Road, Gurranabraher, was given a four-year sentence by Mr Justice Paul Butler for the rape and assault causing harm of a 25-year-old woman in the garden of a house in April 2002.

A Limerick man who raped a virgin teenage French student has been jailed for eight years by Mr Justice Roderick Murphy at the Central Criminal Court.
