The jury did not hear evidence that Patrick Quirke had secret audio recordings of him being "intimate" with Mary Lowry and that his computer was used to look up articles on notorious Irish murderers including Joe O'Reilly.

Bobby Ryan's death was "callous, calculated, controlled murder" and the only verdict available is to find Patrick Quirke guilty of murder, lawyers for the State have told the Central Criminal Court.

Mary Lowry said she did not make the recording and did not give anyone permission to record the conversation.
