Residents in West Cork are being asked to clear scrub vegetation from around family homes amid fears of a spate of illegally-set wildfires in the weeks ahead.

Criminals are risking causing a “catastrophic” road crash disaster after stealing almost €35,000-worth of essential life-saving emergency equipment from a West Cork fire station.
