Six Irish passports may have been compromised by a Russian spy ring uncovered in the US earlier this year, it emerged today.

A DONEGAL man was interviewed by Garda detectives this week after it emerged his passport was used by one of the alleged Russian spies arrested in the US.

SECURITY concerns prompted the Government to consider a recall of more than two million Irish passports earlier this year – the same version of passport linked to an alleged Russian spy facing charges in the US.

Diplomats were tonight trying to trace records of an Irish passport given to a US-based Russian spy on a debriefing mission.
