IRISH divers are mounting a huge expedition for a National Geographic documentary in a bid to solve the riddle of the sinking of the Lusitania off the south coast almost a century ago.

DIVERS are to salvage the two anchors on the famous gunrunning ship The Aud and present them to the people of Fenit, Co Kerry and Cobh, Co Cork.

THE Lusitania liner took just under 20 minutes to sink off the coast of Cork 95 years ago this month, but the memory of the devastating loss of over 1,100 people continues to live on in Cobh where remembrance wreaths were placed on mass graves at a cemetery in the town yesterday afternoon.
