THE trial of four gardaí accused of offences arising out of an alleged assault on a man last year had to be adjourned when a barrister involved in the case could not be present.

A FORMER council engineer accused of deceiving a superior officer over an €18,920 contract was acquitted yesterday when a judge directed a jury to return a “not guilty” verdict.
