A record €3.2m Irish sale for a yearling filly at Goff’s annual Orby sale was not enough to prevent it posting a 33% slump in pre-tax profits to €2.2m.

The record €1.8m price secured for a filly foal by the brilliant racehorse Frankel at auction contributed to pre-tax profits at Goffs totalling more than €1.8m last year.

The record €6m price secured for filly-in-training Chiquita at auction contributed to pre-tax profits at Goffs more than doubling last year to €1.8m.

IT WAS as if any mention of economic doom and gloom was banned at the Curragh yesterday.
