STRONG winds forecast for today’s third and penultimate day of the Sovereigns Cup at Kinsale could yet prove as decisive as yesterday’s light and extremely fickle conditions off the Old Head of Kinsale.

A FULL RANGE of sailing conditions on Cork Harbour delivered a complete test to the combined fleet of more than 60 boats for the annual Irish Cruiser Racing Association (ICRA) national championships that ended yesterday.

HEAVY fog was a dampener, but it did not affect the final race in the Kevin O’Leary Nissan April League series at Kinsale YC and had no effect on the celebrations by the overall class winners.

AFTER a morning of gale force winds and torrential rain, racing finally got under way at Kinsale and the third race of the Kevin O’Leary Nissan April League turned out a great one.

GLORIOUS autumnal conditions favoured the Royal Cork Offshore Day and, in a light to moderate south easterly breeze Class One sailed around the Cork Buoy, down to the Bullman Buoy off Kinsale and back to the finish at Roches Point.
