Green Party leader Trevor Sargent has won Magill Magazine’s Politician of the Year award for 2007, it was announced today.

ALL the year-end reviews of politics in 2006 included Justice Minister Michael McDowell’s extraordinary ‘Dr Goebbels’ outburst, which was quite ironic coming from the most prolific propagandist seen for many decades in Irish politics.

IN a high-profile spat some months ago, Justice Minister Michael McDowell described Richard Bruton as “the Dr Goebbels of Irish politics” because of what he claimed was a deliberate attempt to massage garda deployment figures to suit his own agenda.
