A number of fine sprint performances provided the highlight of the Cork County Senior, Junior and Masters Track & Field championships at the Cork IT track.

DONNACHA O’MAHONY (East Cork) rolled back the years to reclaim the Cork senior cross-country championship title while Freda Davoren (UCC AC) ran her first cross-country race in almost two years to claim her first county title at Inchigeela yesterday, when East Cork eventually won an enthralling team contest with their North Cork rivals.

AILISH McSWEENEY (Leevale) recorded her second double in a week when she won both sprints at the Munster senior track and field championships at the CIT Track in Cork yesterday where Donnacha O’Mahony (East Cork) rolled back the years to reclaim the 5,000m title.
