Victims of a north Cork priest, named in the Cloyne report as Father Ronat, have given evidence to a secret canonical court which can recommend his defrocking.

VICTIMS of Fr Ronat, the priest at the centre of the latest Cloyne report, have said that they have “little interest” in meeting Bishop John Magee and former child protection delegate, Monsignor Denis O’Callaghan — unless the media is present.

A TEENAGE girl who alleges that she was abused by Fr Ronat said he claimed the Holy Spirit was descending upon her as he touched her body.

DESPITE the complaints mounting against Fr Ronat, the diocese considered promoting him in 1995, and again in 2005 — which the Commission described as “shocking”.
