Pre-tax profits at the Irish arm of global biotechnology firm Genzyme fell 25% last year, despite revenues topping €1.2bn.

UP to 100 new jobs are expected to be announced for Waterford today at a thriving biotechnology plant which already employs 250 people.

IN a major development, Waterford -based Genzyme Corp. of the United States announced FDA approval for the production of Renagel, a further step toward consolidating the group’s Irish manufacturing presence, the company said.

A PHARMACEUTICALS multinational, which is developing a new €150 million plant in Waterford city, said yesterday its project is well on track and it could not have picked a more suitable location for the development.
