I WRITE in relation to the intervention by the EU Commission’s Director of Economic Affairs last week in relation to the high costs of medical care in Ireland (Troika reviewer hits out at Irish legal and GP fees, October 21).

Business and employers' organisation IBEC has called on the Government to postpone for a year the extension of PRSI to benefit-in-kind saying the timing was all wrong.

IBEC is proposing a ten-point plan to cut inflation, which is currently running at two and a half times the EU average.

The employers' body, IBEC wants the employers' PRSI rate to be reduced from 12 to 9%.
