A man was confrontational and angry when he sought answers over why his seriously ill wife was not in intensive care six days before she died, a senior doctor told the inquest into her death.

A senior doctor has apologised over a heated conversation he had with the husband of a new mother as her condition deteriorated following an emergency Caesarean section.

A coroner has bowed to pressure and offered to almost treble the number of witnesses for an inquest into the death of a woman who died days after giving birth.

Lawyers for Michael Kivlehan told the coroner’s court that "if there’s an attempt to truncate the inquest or reduce it to a level that does not meet these requirements, the Kivlehans will be unhappy and take their unhappiness elsewhere".
