Germany set the bar for economic recovery in Europe today as it reported a surprisingly strong growth rate of 2.2% in the second quarter.

Germany's February exports showed a €5.1bn surplus over imports, compared to a surplus of €4bn in February last year, the federal statistics office Destatis said today.
