A Killarney mother is turning “a family nightmare” — the murder of her eldest son — into a programme to teach children about the importance of caring in the community.

The father of a 17-year-old student, stabbed to death in Killarney, Co Kerry, three years ago, yesterday told an inquest how he was informed of the tragedy as he approached the road in which his dead son lay.

AS gardaí investigate three violent deaths in Kerry, Dublin and Tipperary, a call has been made on the Government to hold an emergency debate on spiralling lawlessness.
