Tottenham are in real danger of being eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage.

There will be 100 Premier League players in action at the World Cup, spread across 25 international teams.

Three goals from across that spectrum between ‘sublime’ and ‘ridiculous’ gave Tottenham their first away victory over Chelsea in almost 30 years, and allayed any fears that the Premier League champions might catch their London rivals in the race for continental qualification.

It was a theme picked up on by Hugo Lloris, who is one of the most experienced Spurs player at this level, mostly from his time with Lyon.

And so the Old Lady prevailed, as the old masters of European football finally ended Tottenham’s swashbuckling adventure in the Champions League.
