Cork could become an incredible city, a European gem, if developed properly. The city is loved because of its closeness to the water, to nature, and to history. The architecture and the historic buildings are complemented by the trees and the water. The fact that you have an island at the centre is also an added feature. The Government’s Project 2040 plans sound great and there are individuals and groups that have a vision for what the city could become.

IN normal life they would be drawing the pension but a growing band of older musicians are, as Neil (not so) Young, would say, ‘rockin’ in the free world’, shaking it all out on stage.

SO the Irish Greyhound Board takes offence at the “unsubstantiated” claims of cruelty within greyhound racing in Ireland? (Letters, December 4).

TO add to Michael O’Leary’s comments (December 3) about the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA – or DOH!), is it not absolutely crazy that the authority still retains ownership of its other potential competitors in Cork and Limerick.
