James McGrath, disappointed at being overlooked to referee this year’s All-Ireland senior hurling final, has quit the national referees panel.

For the second successive year, James McGrath from Westmeath has been chosen to referee an All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final replay.

Kilkenny last night refused to comment on the appointment of Westmeath’s James McGrath for Sunday week’s All-Ireland SHC final against Galway.
