A GIGANTIC prehistoric bird which could have been as big as an ostrich has been identified from a single jawbone which has lain undiscovered in a museum for several years, scientists said yesterday.

Researchers in northern Greece have uncovered two massive tusks of a prehistoric mastodon that roamed Europe more than two million years ago — tusks that could be the largest of their kind ever found.
