ENGINEERS will start shoving mud and maybe cement into the blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico today in what could be one of the final steps to plug it for good, BP said yesterday.

BP engineers today hope to begin a plan to permanently halt oil gushing from a blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.
