A DERRY man forced into exile for 18 months after he argued with an IRA member in a bar has quietly moved back home after successfully lobbying Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams to guarantee his safety.

The IRA has backed down after a high profile Downing Street protest by a man forced to flee Derry in fear the Provisionals would murder him.

Police in the North have arrested two men in connection with the shooting of a bus driver in Derry last month.

SINN FÉIN’S Martin McGuinness last night condemned a weekend gun attack on a bus driver in his home city of Derry which police believe was the work of the IRA.

A bus driver was shot because of his close friendship with a man living in fear of the IRA, it was claimed tonight.
