Disgraced former CEO of suicide prevention charity Console Paul Kelly has moved to set up a company to support people in crisis.

The strain of losing their homes is driving growing numbers of people into a “suicidal crisis”, a suicide support group has said.

Concern that holding suicide inquests in private could increase stigma about such deaths was raised by Minister of State for Mental Health, Kathleen Lynch.

LIVES lost through suicide were remembered by around 1,500 people who attended a special candlelit service in Maynooth, Co Kildare, yesterday.

CHILDREN as young as five have been treated for suicide attempts and self-harm, according to a leading child and adolescent psychiatrist.
