TWO-YEAR-OLD twins from the Philippines born with their heads fused together were “strong and stable” after being separated in a marathon operation.

IF ALL goes well during a day-long operation on Wednesday, Carl and Clarence Aguirre, two-year-old twins from the Philippines joined at the top of their heads, will wake up in separate beds.

SIAMESE twins Carl and Clarence Aguirre celebrated their second birthday at a New York hospital, scooting around on a mat with other children, clapping their hands to music and receiving separate birthday cakes.

Doctors in New York have successfully completed the first of at least three operations on 18-month-old Siamese twins from the Philippines.
