Two-time Irish marathon champion Sean Hehir says he is far more inspired by legendary Clare hard-man Seamus Power than the Kenyan Olympic champion who took part in the recent bid to break the two-hour marathon barrier.

They may have waited all of a decade to reclaim the Cork county senior cross-country crown from East Cork, but Leevale did it in style yesterday at Carrignavar and for good measure, the city club also won the women’s title along with providing the winners of the two individual races.

OVER 3,000 runners will go to the starting line for tomorrow’s “Ballycotton 10”, Ireland’s most enduring and successful road race.
