A coroner has issued a stark warning about the dangers of taking ecstasy or similar type drugs, which he described as “deadly poisons”.

The judge who imposed three-year suspended sentences on the four young people involved in the chain of supply of drugs to two young Dungarvan men found dead in Kinsale said the case was an eloquent expression of the tragedy that drugs destroy lives.

Three men and a woman who were links in a chain of supply of a drug which caused the deaths of two young Dungarvan men in Kinsale in September 2012 were remanded in custody until tomorrow for sentence.

A team of up to 60 gardaí are working to get a potentially lethal drug off the streets.
