Transsexuals will be allowed to marry in their adoptive sex and apply for substitute birth certificates showing their new genders under proposals published by ministers in the UK today.

British ministers were today unveiling plans to allow transsexuals to get legal recognition of their new genders.

IRELAND is now the only EU country not to recognise the right of transsexuals to marry following a European Court ruling that British law must permit any such future unions.
