Celtic will discover if their Europa League reinstatement stands on Tuesday - two days before their scheduled opener against Atletico Madrid – after Sion submitted an appeal against their expulsion late last night.

Sion have vowed to fight their Europa League expulsion with an appeal to UEFA and Swiss civil court action after describing the decision as “pure revenge” against controversial president Christian Constantin.

Sion plan to fight UEFA’s decision to give Celtic a Europa League reprieve and are confident of winning their case.

UEFA have made up for an injustice perpetrated on Celtic 27 years ago by reinstating the club in the Europa League, according to Hoops legend Frank McGarvey.

Celtic were today reinstated in to the Europa League, subject to appeal, after UEFA upheld the club’s complaint relating to the matches against Sion, the Parkhead club have revealed.
