A new unit manned by specially trained gardaí to investigate sexual crimes and domestic violence is to be established in the West Cork region.

Nearly 30% more suspected drink-drivers have been arrested in Cork city and county in the past three months compared to the same period last year.

Plans are being put in place to hold a national Garda Youth Achievement Awards ceremony.
