Health Minister Simon Harris has agreed to provide a “modular” catheterisation laboratory at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) to allow for increased numbers of diagnostic and follow-up procedures for cardiac patients.

A band of people led by the sisters of a farmer who died in an ambulance on its way to Cork left the front door of University Hospital Waterford yesterday and walked along the last road he travelled on.

A public inquest into the death of Waterford man Thomas Power, who died of a heart attack in the back of an ambulance on its way to Cork, has been requested by his family.
