A garda on trial for assaulting a Dublin youth denied using excessive force but said he could have handled the situation “in a more professional manner.”

A garda has said a colleague accused of assaulting a young man after forcing entry to his flat had told her not to say anything if she was asked about the alleged incident.

A garda witness has told a trial she could hear moaning and screaming from the bedroom of the flat of a young Dublin man accusing four gardaí of assault.

Four gardaí have gone on trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for allegedly forcing their way into a flat without a warrant and beating up a male occupant.
