A Co Kilkenny dairy farmer is showing the way forward to low carbon agriculture, with his own solar farm, on course to reduce his annual dairy farm electricity bill by 20%.

SIX farmers have been short-listed as finalists in the National Dairy Council (NDC) Quality Milk Awards, the national competition which sets out to identify and reward the country’s top dairy farmer.

Champions Athenry have made it through to the final with a comprehensive 3-20 to 1-10 win over Dunloy at Parnell Park in Dublin.
