Ireland’s 4x400m relay women were officially confirmed as London 2012 Olympians by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) yesterday.

Dwain Chambers was today named in the Great Britain athletics team for London 2012, 12 years on from his last appearance at an Olympic Games, but the stunning pick of Lynsey Sharp as the only athlete in the women’s 800 metres provided the headline selection.

Official confirmation will come today that sprinter Dwain Chambers and cyclist David Millar are to have their lifetime bans lifted to allow their selection for Team GB for the London 2012 Olympics.

Dwain Chambers is likely to decide in the next few days whether to challenge his lifetime Olympic suspension by taking legal action against the British Olympic Association's by-law.
