A convicted murderer who produced what he claimed to be a mobile phone while giving evidence at the trial of two Limerick men charged with the murder of Roy Collins was instead in possession of a television remote control, the Special Criminal Court has heard.

A forensic scientist has told a Central Criminal Court jury that DNA found in the bedroom of a woman who alleges she was raped and sexually assaulted by a neighbour matches that of the accused man.

DNA matching both Meg Walsh and her husband John O’Brien, currently on trial in the Central Criminal Court for her murder, was found in the boot of her car the jury in his trial have heard.

The trial of two Dublin men accused of murdering a 65-year-old grandmother heard that quantities of DNA taken from a bag which contained the shotgun that killed the victim were insufficient to determine DNA profiles, at the Central Criminal Court today.
